Empowering gender-diverse groups to succeed in artificial intelligence (AI).
The AI4Good Lab is a seven-week program designed to give women, trans women and non-binary individuals the skills they need to build their own machine learning (ML) projects. Through mentorship and curiosity-driven learning, the Lab prepares participants for professional careers in AI.
The next call for applications will open in January 2025.
Created to help open doors for those who have been historically underrepresented within the AI field, the Lab was founded in 2017 by Dr. Doina Precup — an Associate Professor at McGill University, Core Academic Member at Mila, Research Team Lead at Google DeepMind, and Canada CIFAR AI Chair — and by Angelique Mannella, Chief of Staff at AWS Industries. The program is offered each summer in Montréal, Toronto and Edmonton.
This innovative initiative is aimed at building a more inclusive and diverse tech culture in Canada, while also inspiring future generations of leaders to use AI as a tool for social good.
This year, Demo Day will take place at Mila on June 26 where all four cohorts will be reunited to presented their social for good project.
