Montréal, August 26, 2026 - Télé-Québec and Mila today announced the creation of a “living” lab in artificial intelligence dedicated to improving the discoverability of Quebec cultural content. It is the first initiative of its kind in Quebec.
The initiative will take the form of an applied research process, with the two organizations working together to identify the challenges where AI has the greatest potential, then testing various solutions to assess their relevance and evaluate engagement among viewers.
The collaboration will bring together Télé-Québec’s expertise in content, audience insights and digital experiences with Mila’s expertise in AI research. At a time when consumption habits are changing rapidly and the sheer volume of available content is making discovery more difficult, Télé-Québec and Mila look forward to exploring new ways to help Quebec content connect with its audiences.
A particular focus will be given to the habits and preferences of younger generations, as well as to new forms of interaction and experiences that could enrich how they engage with content.
“We often talk about protecting Quebec culture. At Télé-Québec, we want to propel it forward. This partnership is our way of putting artificial intelligence to work for what makes us unique: our language, our stories and our audiences. It is about amplifying our culture in ways that fit into the lives of young Quebecers.” — Hugues Sweeney, President and CEO of Télé-Québec
“Artificial intelligence has tremendous potential when it is used to serve people. Our partnership with Télé-Québec will allow us to explore key issues related to the discoverability, accessibility and experience of Quebec cultural content, while creating the best conditions for a responsible use of this technology, with and for creators here.” — Valérie Pisano, President and CEO of Mila
