Samira Abbasgholizadeh-Rahimi, Associate Academic Member at Mila, was appointed to the U7+ Alliance Working Group on Artificial Intelligence to represent universities in discussions with the G7 on the future of AI.
As part of the 2025 AI Working Group, Samira Abbasgholizadeh-Rahimi will contribute to the development of a U7+ Communiqué to the G7, focusing on key areas such as AI governance, ethics, and the contributions of academic institutions to AI research, education, and policy frameworks.

As assistant Professor at McGill and Canada Research Chair in AI and Advanced Digital Primary Healthcare, Samira Abbasgholizadeh-Rahimi’s research focuses on developing and implementing AI-powered digital health technologies to improve primary health care and access to care for vulnerable and underserved populations.
Her appointment to this influential working group ensures that Mila's leading expertise contributes directly to shaping international policy and advancing the development of AI for the benefit of all.
