On April 17, 2025, Mila held its annual charity event, Mila Techaide, bringing together hundreds of members from Montréal’s tech community. The fundraising event was a tremendous success, raising $110,201.18 in support of Centraide of Greater Montreal and its mission to fight poverty and social exclusion.
The 2025 edition of Techaide featured inspiring talks from David Ifeoluwa Adelani (Mila/McGill), Kyunghyun Cho (NYU), Golnoosh Farnadi (Mila/McGill), Sara Hooker (Cohere for AI), Tegan Maharaj (Mila/HEC Montreal) and Derek Nowrouzezahrai (Mila/McGill).
The speakers addressed a variety of topics, ranging from causal inference to equity and privacy in foundation models to responsible AI in an era of complex systems.
Among the event sponsors, Google DeepMind, Microsoft, Ivado, and Korbit each contributed $5,000 as gold sponsors; Cohere contributed $2,000 as a silver sponsor; and FPT Software, Linearis, ServiceNow, and Whale Seeker each contributed $500 as bronze sponsors.
We would like to highlight the outstanding generosity of Hugo Larochelle (Mila/McGill), who made a donation of $25,000, as well as Marc-Alexandre Côté (Microsoft) and Microsoft, who each contributed an additional $5,500 to the cause.
Our heartfelt thanks to the organizing committee who made this event possible: Sarath Chandar, Marc-Alexandre Côté, Hugo Larochelle, Nadine Khairallah, and Desiree Goldwater.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this charity event such a success. See you in 2026!
