Jesse Farebrother

Student Ph.D., McGill University

I am currently a PhD student at Mila / McGill University supervised by Marc G. Bellemare and Doina Precup. I also share my time as a student researcher at Google DeepMind . Previously, I completed my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at the University of Alberta and Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii) working with Marlos C. Machado and Michael Bowling . I’m also the current maintainer of the Arcade Learning Environment a popular benchmark for Reinforcement Learning (RL) agents.

My research interests lie at the intersection of deep learning and reinforcement learning. Specifically, learning time-based representations through self-supervision with the hope of enabling the real-world deployment of intelligent decision-making agents.
