Montreal, January 20, 2026 — Mila is pleased to announce the renewal of its partnership with Linarite AI, a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) and boutique research and development company dedicated to creating safe, responsible AI solutions in wellbeing, mental health, and education.
This next phase centres on the joint development of an advanced AI simulation platform with McGill’s Department of Pediatrics to enhance resident training in Serious Illness Communication (SIC). Using fine-tuned Large Language Models (LLMs), the platform simulates emotionally realistic and pedagogically aligned agents—including patients and supervisors—within a controllable, stateful system. By coordinating contextual memory and interactions, the system enables personalized, measurable skill development while preserving privacy, offering a scalable alternative to traditional role-playing or actor-based training.
The project builds on prior research with Mila, Université de Montréal, and Linarite AI, which used natural language processing (NLP) and psychological assessments to evaluate LLM-backed agents’ personalities, revealing insights into core personality traits.
With this announcement, Linarite AI will continue to benefit from access to Mila’s network of experts, professional development opportunities, exclusive events, advanced knowledge sharing, and a globally recognized innovation ecosystem. The company also joins the inaugural cohort of Mila’s new Impulse Program, designed to support the next generation of Canadian AI innovators by providing subsidized access to top-tier AI talent.
“At Linarite AI, we are dedicated to driving AI-for-good initiatives that enhance human learning and wellbeing. As a small but highly collaborative team, we recognize that building responsible AI depends on the expertise of professionals from diverse disciplines and backgrounds. This renewed partnership with Mila allows us to advance our AI simulation platform, combining technological sophistication with ethical design to create truly human-centred solutions,” said Esin Darici, Founder and CEO of Linarite AI.
“Mila is committed to translating advanced AI research into technologies that have meaningful impact,” said Stéphane Létourneau, Executive Vice President of Mila. “Our collaboration with Linarite AI demonstrates how fine-tuned LLMs and stateful simulation platforms can be harnessed to train healthcare professionals more effectively while maintaining privacy and scalability. By uniting academic expertise with Linarite AI’s bold vision, we are setting new standards for responsible, human-focused AI applications.”
With Mila’s support, Linarite AI is creating technologies that put people first. Through shared expertise and a commitment to ethical innovation, this partnership highlights how responsible AI can deliver measurable benefits to society, empower human potential, and foster lasting positive change.
