Montreal, November 12, 2024 — Mila - Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute, is pleased to announce a partnership with BeroAI, a Canadian technology startup dedicated to enhancing communication between humans and their canine companions through multimodal artificial intelligence (AI).
Through this collaboration, BeroAI aims to extend the capabilities of AI to interspecies communication. With access to Mila’s world-class research and unique ecosystem, BeroAI hopes to expand its research on canine behaviour using data from pets’ sensory input and provide diverse, extensive services for dog owners who are dedicated to better understanding their best friend.
“The vision of BeroAI—our "Talking Dog" dream—isn't just my own. It's a dream humanity has shared for a long time. We're working to make that dream a reality.” says Soyeong Jeong, CEO of BeroAI. “Understanding communication requires us to piece together cultural backgrounds, personal characteristics, and the specific context of the moment. That's why we're focused on research to understand this context from the dog's point of view.”
“AI allows us to push the boundaries of innovation towards possibilities that may have previously seemed unimaginable,” said Stéphane Létourneau, Executive Vice President of Mila. “This partnership with BeroAI is an example of the unique ideas that can be explored thanks to cutting-edge research like that which is conducted at Mila.”
