Professors Laurent Charlin and Christopher Pal are looking for a postdoctoral scholar interested in working on a research project toward the creation of an assistant to help researchers write the literature reviews of scientific papers. This will be a 1-year Mitacs funded project in collaboration with ServiceNow (with the potential to extend).
An established track record in deep learning (demonstrated through papers and possibly systems) is essential. Interest and experience with modern NLP techniques, models, and evaluation (including, for example, LLMs, RAG, parameter-efficient fine-tuning, and evaluation with human subjects) are a plus. Similarly, an interest in doing research to improve scientific workflows is also a plus.
