Mila believes in the critical importance and profound richness of a diverse and inclusive community. It is in this spirit that the Mila EDI Scholarship Program was developed. This initiative aims to offer increased financial support to foster development of talent from historically underrepresented groups within the AI ecosystem, as well as to recognize the application of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) values in AI research.
It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the Mila EDI Scholarship program is returning for the 2025-2026 fiscal year for a 4th edition, presented under 2 categories : Women in AI and EDI in Research.
Category 1 - Excellence Scholarships - Women in AI
This category is intended to be an attraction and retention lever to ensure strong participation of women in Mila and in the broader AI ecosystem. Mila recognizes that women’s identities may be multifaceted, and our institute will take into account issues of intersectionality in awarding the scholarships in this category.
Scholarships amount
Master's level: $5,000/year for up to 2 years
Doctorate level: $8,000/year for up to 3 years

Category 2 - Excellence Scholarship - EDI in Research
This category is designed to support students whose work contributes to the application of EDI values in research as well as to encourage diversity as a lever for innovation while playing a key role in countering research bias.
Scholarships amount
Master's level: $5,000/year for up to 2 years
Doctorate level: $8,000/year for up to 3 years
