Montreal, June 14, 2026 — Mila – Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute is pleased to announce a new partnership with Anthropic, the AI research and development company behind the Claude family of large language models. Through this partnership, Anthropic will provide Mila’s research community with access to its industry-leading AI models, while benefiting from Mila's network of world-leading researchers, knowledge-sharing opportunities, and one of the most recognized AI innovation ecosystems in the world. This opportunity will enable Mila researchers to accelerate their work across a range of high-priority areas, including responsible AI, health, sustainability, multi-agent systems, and robotics.
The partnership will also support the development of AI-powered assistants designed to amplify researchers’ ability to identify, assess and build upon scientific breakthroughs across AI and other disciplines. Beyond advancing research, it will benefit startups within Mila Ventures, Canada’s premier AI venture-building ecosystem, where providing access to Anthropic’s models and resources will accelerate the translation of cutting-edge research into commercial impact, strengthening the pipeline from scientific discovery to globally competitive deep-tech companies.
“Access to Anthropic’s models is a powerful accelerant for the work being carried out across Mila’s research community, whether it is furthering the science of responsible and safe AI, developing tools that assist researchers in advancing scientific discovery, or pushing the boundaries in health, sustainability, multi-agent systems and robotics. We are excited to explore what becomes possible when some of the world’s most rigorous AI researchers have access to some of the most advanced AI systems available,” said Hugo Larochelle, Scientific Director of Mila.
“This partnership further elevates the value Mila Ventures delivers to its startups. Access to Anthropic’s world-class models adds a critical capability to the program we’ve built, equipping venture scientists and founders to innovate more ambitiously and build with greater speed and confidence from day one,” added Stéphane Létourneau, Executive Vice-President of Mila.
“Mila's commitment to open science means the breakthroughs happening in Montreal extend to researchers and companies well beyond Quebec. Supporting researchers in identifying and assessing scientific breakthroughs is exactly the kind of work Claude was built for,” mentioned Brian Peters, Head of North America Government Affairs at Anthropic.
