Biography
A member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec since 2017, Laurence Martel is the Director of Structuring Projects at Mila – Quebec Artificial Intelligence Research Institute. She has a master’s in technology project management from Polytechnique Montréal.
She oversees major projects and initiatives that support the strategic portfolio of activities of Mila’s Vice-President of Academic Affairs.
Before joining Mila, she spent five years in academia, where she played a central role in setting up a digital fabrication laboratory as part of the global FabLab Network. She has been instrumental in promoting the value of experiential learning in developing the skills of engineering students, and has been closely involved in a number of initiatives to awaken young people’s interest in science and technology.
