Minister Christine Saint-Pierre presented, at a ceremony held at the Université de Montréal, the 50th anniversary medal of the Ministry of International Relations and Francophonie to Professor Yoshua Bengio for his outstanding contribution to research in the field of artificial intelligence and the advancement of Quebec on the international scene.

In her tribute, Minister Christine Saint-Pierre underlined the social commitment of Professor Bengio: “Beyond his remarkable scientific contribution, he is an element that distinguishes Professor Yoshua Bengio in the fascinating and constantly evolving world of deep learning: its leadership and unwavering commitment to creating technology for the benefit of humanity. ”

For the rector, Guy Breton, this new recognition that is made to Professor Bengio is well deserved: “in addition to impressive scientific advances, Yoshua Bengio is at the origin of a real movement to make Montreal and Quebec a pole international scale in the field of artificial intelligence. The Mila, which he founded, stands out as the leading figure in our new artificial intelligence ecosystem and acts as a center of gravity on the major digital companies: it attracts them all to Montreal.
