I am a summer research intern in the Climate Change AI team supervised by Prof. Yoshua Bengio, Dr. Karthik Mukkavilli, and Dr. Sasha Luccioni. I am working on flood forecasting with spatio-temporal models.
Originally from Brazil, I study Data Science at the University of Helsinki, Finland, where I also completed my B.Sc. in Computer Science.
Last summer, I worked at CERN Openlab with Dr. Maurizio Pierini on GANs for fast calorimeter simulation in the CMS experiment (report). In the summer of 2017, I was a Caltech summer research fellow based at CERN, working on deep learning for energy reconstruction of particles in the Linear Collider Detector calorimeter, supervised by Prof. Maria Spiropulu, Dr. Maurizio Pierini, and Dr. Jean-Roch Vlimant (paper).
I am broadly interested in machine learning problems motivated by the natural sciences. At MILA I am working mostly on time-series extreme event forecasting. I am also interested in generative models and semi-supervised learning.
