Chengzhi Mao

Chengzhi Mao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at McGill University, and a Core Academic Member at Mila. He obtained his PhD from the Department of Computer Science at Columbia University, advised by Prof. Carl Vondrick and Prof. Junfeng Yang. He received his B.S. in E.E. from Tsinghua University. His research studies machine learning and computer vision. By training machines to integrate context through interaction and reasoning, he aims to build robust models that generalize. Other interests include language, robotics, causal inference, and human-centered AI.
