I hold a B.Sc. in Mathematics (specialization in Algebraic Geometry) from the University of Athens and a M.Sc. in Neuroscience (specialization in Computational Neuroscience) from the University of Crete.
I am working in the interface between Machine Learning and Genetics (joint affiliation with the Montreal Heart Institute) with the aim of applying Deep Learning models on next-generation, whole genome sequencing data in order to facilitate:
- Predictive Medicine – Determine individuals’ probability of developing certain diseases given their genotype data
- Precision Medicine – Identify genetic loci that affect disease severity and drug efficacy
- Scientific Discovery – Uncover novel genetic loci that control complex phenotypic traits and reconstuct the underlying gene (regulatory) network
