Call for applications: Writing for Yoshua Bengio’s Report on AI Safety
Mila is seeking expressions of interest to join the writing team to support Yoshua Bengio in his work as chair of The International Scientific Report on Advanced AI Safety.
This report is commissioned by the UK government and its Advisory Panel includes representatives of 30 countries, as well as representatives of the European Union and the United Nations. The report is inspired by the IPCC model and will summarize scientific knowledge on Advanced AI capabilities and risks for global governments.
The mandate
- Draft one or multiple sections (1-10 pages) of the report, incorporating a detailed and balanced literature review and seeking feedback from experts.
- Revise the section(s) based on input from an international expert panel and others, and review it after central writers have edited it.
- This job requires 1-2 weeks of full-time work in March 2024.
Main criteria
- Minimum experience level: nearing completion of a PhD or equivalent
- Clear writing tailored for a policy audience, and effective stakeholder management
- You must have significant expertise in one of the following areas:
- AI misuse: misinformation, CBRN, cyber-risks, fraud, surveillance
- Systemic AI risks: societal destabilization, interaction between AIs, unemployment, misinformation, ceding control, etc.
- Frontier AI general capabilities evaluation (e.g., benchmarks and auditing)
- Risk management and systems safety frameworks
- Affiliation:
- Not employed at commercial companies
- Associated with leading academic programs and/or AI civil society organizations
Selected candidates will receive compensation and recognition through co-authorship.
