Mila recognizes the invaluable wealth of a diverse and inclusive community. To support the development of talent from groups historically under-represented in the artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem and promote the values of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in AI research, Mila is launching, for the third year running, its Scholarship competition dedicated to women in AI and to EDI values in AI research.

True to its commitment to building an inclusive and diverse AI ecosystem, Mila is proud to contribute to the implementation of bold initiatives aimed at rethinking traditional academic scholarship selection criteria. This program is part of a global and proactive approach in favor of EDI, with the aim of enriching and transforming the AI ecosystem.

Building on the spirit of its community, Mila values complementary skills and advocates an inclusive vision of excellence, highlighting diverse backgrounds and profiles. With this in mind, the 2024-2025 edition of its unifying EDI Scholarship Program has been launched, structured around two distinct components, to which are added emergency scholarships available to the community throughout the year.

Category 1 — Excellence Scholarships – Women in AI

Women are particularly under-represented at advanced university levels. To bridge this gap, the Women in AI category takes issues of intersectionality into account in awarding the scholarships in this category and is designed to attract and retain talent from this group.
