This interactive program will provide participants with the foundational knowledge, skills and tools to responsibly design and conduct their AI projects. Attendees will learn how to apply best practices and methodologies throughout the AI life cycle, from identifying ethical concerns to assessing impact and investigating and mitigating unintended consequences.
Led by experienced facilitators and taught by renowned Mila faculty and experts, participants will have an opportunity to discuss and work with their peers and other professionals on real-world case studies. TRAIL is a space for co-creating knowledge with peers in order to collectively build a culture of responsible AI.
The program is aimed at anyone involved in the creation, deployment, maintenance, sale or acquisition of artificial intelligence systems.
This includes technical staff as well as executives and managers involved in the deployment and/or use of AI systems.
With our tailor-made offer, organizations can also train entire teams at all levels of responsibility.

“I really appreciated the training. Mila’s team took the time to understand our realities in the field and adapted the exercises to be relevant to our context, to provoke essential thinking, while equipping us with tools we can reuse on future projects.” ***
Nelly, Artificial Intelligence Delivery Manager
“I realized ethical AI is much broader than I had previously thought. Practical cases showed us what questions to ask at each stage to ensure that we carry out our projects in compliance with ethical standards. It’s a great course to start thinking in terms of ethical AI and introducing more of its elements into our business.” ***
Liudmyla, Data Scientist
The program includes 12 hours of synchronous training.
Whenever possible, participants are given pre-assignments for each module in order to prepare for the session and enrich the discussions. Sessions content strikes a balance between expert presentations and hands-on workshops. Real-world use cases are used to reinforce learning. Participants also benefit greatly from moments of interaction with the experts as well as from discussions with their peers.
This training program is designed according to a competency-based approach.
