 
  Nikki Lobczowski
Biography
Dr. Nikki G. Lobczowski is an Assistant Professor in the Learning Sciences program in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology for the Faculty of Education at McGill University. Previously, she was a Postdoctoral Associate at the Learning, Research, and Development Center (LRDC) at The University of Pittsburgh and at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) at Carnegie Mellon University.
She graduated with a Ph.D. in Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a specialization in the Learning Sciences and Psychological Studies. Her dissertation, Building from the Inside Out: The Formation and Regulation of Emotions in Collaborative Learning, received the 2021 Paul R. Pintrich Outstanding Dissertation Award from Division 15 of the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Lobczowski's research focuses on designing and studying context-sensitive interventions for learning that incorporate cutting-edge technologies and analytic methods. Drawing on her experience as a secondary mathematics teacher, she uses an interdisciplinary approach to investigate how technologies can be designed to better support teachers and students in math classrooms.
Her current work explores the role of generative AI in mathematics education, examining the individual and environmental factors that shape teachers’ integration of AI tools. She has also developed training modules to help teachers efficiently and effectively use AI to enhance mathematics instruction. Across this work, she emphasizes responsible and equitable approaches to AI in education, ensuring that innovations are accessible, ethical, and aligned with the needs of both teachers and learners.
