Olexa Bilaniuk

I am a Masters student at the MILA, currently supervised by Roland Memisevic and Yoshua Bengio. I previously graduated from the Computer Engineering program at the University of Ottawa, where I also worked as a Research Assistant in the VIVA lab in Computer Vision under Robert Laganière.

My interests include Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for vision tasks, and how to shrink their number of parameters and their size. Binary Nets (neural networks with 1-bit activations and weights) are especially attractive to me. Recently I also acquired an interest in sound and speech synthesis using RNNs, and low-dimensional visualizations of gradient descent in high dimensions.
