Foutse Khomh, Canada Cifar AI Chair and Associate Academic member at Mila, is one of six recipients of Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) Arthur B. McDonald Fellowships for 2023.
The NSERC awarded an Arthur B. McDonald Fellowship to Foutse Khomh “in recognition of the important advances he has made in improving the reliability and fairness of software systems based on machine learning and artificial intelligence, and in ensuring that ethical principles are respected in this field.” Professor Khomh has been awarded a $250,000 research grant for the next two years.
Arthur B. McDonald Fellowships are awarded annually to recognize early stage academic researchers in the natural sciences and engineering and to enhance their research capacity so that they can become leaders in their field and inspire others.
“I am deeply honored to receive the Arthur B. McDonald Fellowship,” said Professor Khomh. This recognition of the quality and impact of our research work deeply motivates me to persevere in the research and development of safe and secure software technologies, aimed at solving our society’s important issues while improving the quality of life of our fellow citizens.”
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my family, my research team, my collaborators and Polytechnique Montréal for their unwavering support throughout these years,” he adds.
