Where will the summer school take place?
At the University of Montreal, in Montreal, QC.
Will the summer schools be held in English or French?
English.
I did not receive confirmation that my application was submitted, did it go through?
It seems that the auto-reply confirmation email does not always go through! It is safe to assume that your application has been received if you submitted the google doc form.
What is the DLSS/RLSS looking for?
DLSS/RLSS organizers will give priority to students who are actively doing research in machine learning. However, there is no specific criterion we can enumerate; acceptances will be depend on the applicant pool.
I just graduated but will be starting another program in the fall; can I apply as a student?
Unfortunately not. Students must be actively enrolled in an educational institution at the time the summer school will take place.
Is a postdoc considered a student?
Yes!
Will applying to financial aid affect my chances of getting in?
No, financial aid will only be assessed after an applicant is accepted; the amount of support will be determined by the number of students who apply for aid.
Will there be financial aid for travel expenses?
No, we only offer financial aid with respect to the cost of attendance to the summer school(s). You should look to your supervisor/laboratory/company for further financial assistance.
Can we provide letters confirming a student’s attendance to the summer school(s)?
Yes.
